About Page – August 2011

It has almost been a year since I started this blog on Before that I have had a gazillion blogs, back in those Multiply, LiveJournal and Blogdrive days. None of those really ever lasted, but most of them are still online up to now. I’m not going to share their links though.

I have been, and perhaps always will be a lost girl, and I started this in an effort to search for what I really want in life. Since then, I promised myself not to delete any post I have previously written (unless I have a good reason to). This is something I find myself always doing when, days or months after, I re-read my previous posts and realize how full of crap they are.

A lot of things have changed since a year ago. For one, early this year, as part of my 2012 wishlist, I moved out of and purchased my own domain, Sometimes I find myself reading my posts last year and wanting to vomit, but I still let them stay there. They are, after all, a part of who I am.

As part of these changes, I figured it is also about time to change my About page. And as a result, I am throwing my 2011 About section into the archives.

And this was it:

So what the hell is this blog about?

I’ll tell you what’s easy. It’s easy to live the way you have always done. It’s easy to stay put perhaps for a week, a month, a year, 10 years. It’s easy to hide in a shell, be comfortable, play safe and never be wrong. It’s easy to stay the same. But then it’s also… boring. Wouldn’t it be fun if once in a while you let go of yourself and start a crazy adventure?

“When a great adventure is offered, you don’t refuse it.” – Amelia Earhart

What is the craziest thing you’ve done lately? What is an interesting discovery you’ve found in the past week? What mistakes have you learned from?

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” – Albert Einstein

So that’s how this started. I’d like to think that I’m sort of an explorer (Dora ba ito?). I like a lot of things – from sports, to music, to travelling, to artsy, techie and geeky stuff. I like the sun, and water, and flying.

“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.” – Walt Streightiff

Every time I go to some interesting place or try out something new, I always say I want to blog about it but I don’t because <insert 5 million excuses here>. Until I came across this book, “God Never Blinks”, which says the only way to do something is to do it. So now, see, I’m writing.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did. – Mark Twain

I’ve been in and out of this since high school – back in the days when blogs were just online personal journals. But although blogging has already been redefined, I would like to keep it that way somehow. This will simply be a journal of my misadventures, mislearnings and madness.

“We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once” – Nietszche

So forgive me if sometimes I could be absurd, or weird, or dumb or plain crazy. Albert Einstein was crazy. And so was Leonardo Da Vinci. And so is Neil Gaiman and Steve Jobs. I don’t see any reason why I’d want to be normal at all.

“Only those who attempt the absurd… will achieve the impossible.” – M.C. Escher

And I hope that in my quest to turn life into one big adventure – or one big mess, depending on your perspective – I inspire someone to make a mistake he might learn from.

“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.” – Napoleon Hill

Now is the time to live.
