A few months ago, Misibis Bay was but a dream destination. Located in Cagraray Island in Bicol, the resort is rated with a high 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor. Likewise, its prices also soar as high as its ratings. We stayed at a One-Bedroom Premiere Villa which normally costs USD 597 (around PHP 28,000) per person assuming there will be 4 of you sharing the room. This is for a 3D 2N stay and includes full board meals, airport transfers, a city tour and various activities within the resort.
We didn’t pay as much though. We got the same room and five-star service on promo: P6,888 per person for a 3D 2N stay. Sure there are some differences on the package inclusions, but if you compare it to the standard pricey one, this was a very good buy. It’s still ongoing by the way. You might want to check it out.
We took the morning flight to Legazpi via Airphil. A 40-minute ride. The driver who will be taking us to the resort was already there with his big black Hiace. He asked if anyone needed to pee since there won’t be any stopovers. No worries though, the whole ride will only take a little more than an hour. They’ll entertain you with cookies too. There’s no bridge going to the island so we had to ride this mini roro boat for maybe 10-15 minutes from the main island to Cagraray. I think they’re building a bridge soon so that should be more convenient.
So finally, Misibis Bay.

The Welcome
From the van, we already got to see some native folks dancing to the tune of Iba Long, a song about a native Bicolano hero. Once you step on their grounds they’ll welcome you with wet towels so you could freshen up (maybe we looked dirty) and a really refreshing Buco Pandan drink.

We were also asked to wear these cute fishes. Itchy on the neck though.

People in the resort got from one place to another via golf carts. That’s how we were taken to our villa.

The Villa

The Villa we got was just 1BR, but they converted the living room to another bedroom and placed three beds there. So now the whole villa fits 5 (in our case, plus 1 kid). This is the master’s room and the free beach bag.

There are LCD’s in both rooms and iPod-friendly music system. The bathroom was huge the way I like it.

We got a second floor villa with a terrace that’s overlooking the pool. If the weather permits it, you can sunbathe from there. But if it doesn’t, well you have your own jacuzzi to keep you warm. (Oh the water is not yellow because of pee ok? Hehe.)

Here’s me looking very happy. The weather was a little moody.

The view from the terrace.

The Resort
I guess your first question would be, how is it as compared to Palawan or Boracay and stuff? — and that’s the wrong question. What we’re paying for here is the resort itself, not the beach. And the resort was awesome. I’ll let these photos speak for me.

The pools were made in such a way so you can stay in a spot and still feel that it’s private. We came during a low season so it was really peaceful. Amazing Race Australia was even there to share the place with us.

How can you not relax around here?

That should be enough to keep you excited. But that’s not all yet. That’s just a little taste of it. I’ll be posting more in a bit. 🙂
