Pearl Farm Beach Resort: First Time in Davao

I’ve never been to Davao before – hell, I’ve never been to Mindanao before – until early this year when Nico and I found this good deal for Pearl Farm Resort in CashCashPinoy. The deal was, for P18,999, we get 3 days and 2 nights accommodation for 2 in Samal House (twin sharing). This includes buffet breakfasts, roundtrip airfare and airport transfers.

Not yet convinced that it’s a good deal? Let me break it down for you. The regular rate of the Samal House is USD 230 (P10,350) per room per night, exclusive of meals and transfers. The regular round trip airfare for Manila and Davao via Cebu Pacific will cost you around P5,000-P7,000 per person. If we add airport transfers (P250 per person per way) and assume that the buffet breakfast is P500 per person per day, the total regular cost of the whole package would have been P37,700. More than 50% off.

Now I hear your question: How was the service of CashCashPinoy and the travel agency who created the deal? CashCashPinoy = fine. Travel agency = I-want-to-strangle-you-now. But I’d like to flesh that out more in another post. For now, let’s talk about paradise.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort is located in Samal Island – not really Davao, but the island is rather near. From the airport, a van picked us up and transported us to the port. After a 30-45 minute boat ride, there we were. Paradiso!

From afar, this is where the boat lands.

The resort itself was not as big as I thought, but considering it’s high end, it was very, very pretty. It easily fits in my list of top resorts in the Philippines. Here’s the resort when it’s a bit less sunny.

Under the bright sun, the infinity pool is just gorgeous.

The waters are very serene, and place isn’t packed with too many annoying tourists. I might have been the most annoying person around.

A top-front view of the pool.

This is the other pool.

The pond on the way to the villas.

The place is just beautiful – and it kinda feels even better to have gotten the packages at such a discount. Pearl Farm Beach Resort has been popular ever since the 90’s, and is said to be one of the best resorts in Mindanao.

In my next couple of posts, I’ll be showing you the rooms and the beaches so watch out for that.

hassle booking with the travel agency no? haha! it’s always cheap to go DIY esp if your trip is months away. had you check Agoda or Asia Travel, you could get the same package, except airfare, for as low as 4,200/night in June. we are booked for December and we got the 3D2N stay for P12,750 for 2 via Asia Travel. for airfare, there’s always a seat sale 😉

anyhow, thank you thank you for sharing your experience. your beautiful pictures and kwento made me even more excited for our trip =)

Yeah it is! The travel agency was so unprofessional. This is the first time we’ve ever purchased anything from CashCash so I’ve never had this kind of experience before. Although in truth, I think it’s really the travel agency’s problem… 🙁

Anyhow, that was FUN – so be excited! It’s a gorgeous place.

Hey thanks for the Agoda and Asia Travel tip! I’ll check that out next time for sure! 🙂
